On 14 December 2021, the UK Government announced that from 04:00 GMT on Wednesday 15 December, all countries currently on the UK’s ‘Red list’ will be removed and placed onto the ‘Rest of World List’. The ‘Red list’ will still exist as a precautionary measure, but no countries will appear on it.
Virgin Atlantic destinations that will be removed from the ‘Red list’ and will move to the ‘Rest of the World’ list are South Africa and Nigeria. Customers arriving in the UK from either of these countries after 04:00 GMT on Wednesday 15 December will no longer be required to complete the 10-day managed hotel quarantine, and instead must comply with the requirements for entering from a ‘Rest of World’ country.
We are also excited that our flights to Johannesburg will return to a daily service from 01 January 2022. These are available to book in your GDS from Sunday 19 December and show the new and improved flight times:
For details of the steps you need to take when arriving in England from a country on the ‘Rest of the World’ list, please visit GOV.UK here. The rules will differ depending on your vaccination status.
It’s important you continue to check and comply with entry requirements before you travel as some countries might be on the ‘Rest of the World’ list but still maintain their own entry protocols.
