Qantas Airways International travel updates

Qantas Airways International travel updates

Qantas is gradually restarting international services, with the first commercial flights now scheduled to resume between Sydney and Los Angeles and Sydney and London (Heathrow) from 1 November 2021. These initial flights are limited to Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate families, including parents, in line with Australian Government requirements.

Flights to other destinations will resume from December 2021 and into 2022.

The NSW Government has recently announced quarantine requirements will no longer apply for passengers arriving in NSW on international flights who are fully vaccinated with a TGA-approved or recognised vaccine. The Commonwealth conditions for entry to Australia remain unchanged at this time.

While many aspects of international travel will be the same for customers as they were pre-COVID, some things will look a little different, particularly in the short-term. We'll be supporting our partners and providing regular updates during this time to make travelling overseas as seamless as possible.

Qantas vaccination requirements

From 1 November 2021, all customers (aged 12 years and older) on Qantas international flights will need to be fully vaccinated with a TGA-approved or recognised vaccine (unless they have an exemption). Customers holding a ticket sold by Qantas on a codeshare flight operated by another airline will need to contact that airline to understand and meet their requirements if applicable.

Documentation required for travel

On the day of travel, customers may be required to carry and show proof of their vaccination (or exemption) certificate and any other documentation applicable to their destination, such as a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test result, entry permits and travel declarations.

Australian citizens or residents can obtain their International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate from the Australian Government, which is expected to be available from late October 2021.

We're also reminding customers to ensure they check the validity of their passport when planning their trip and renew it if required.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to welcoming our customers onboard our international flights again soon.
